After 30 years in healthcare, Lori Endicott-Cook returned “home” to Hendricks Regional Health in the summer of 2022. Lori is pictured above with a few of her Breast Center teammates. When Nurse Practitioner Lori Endicott-Cook joined the Hendricks Breast Center team this past summer, it was a little like a homecoming for her. That’s because she was born at Danville Hospital. And so were her sister, brother, son and niece!

Lori is not new to healthcare, though; she’s invested 30 years in helping others. She began her career as a MA and EMT. Later, she returned to school to become an RN, WHNP-BC and FNP. For the past six years, Lori has worked in an OB/GYN clinic in Indianapolis.

Several associates recommended her as a possible Chronicles feature not long after Lori’s start date with Hendricks. The associates said Lori exemplified The Hendricks Way and was “a breath of fresh air.” When the marketing team reached out, Lori was hesitant to participate. She agreed on one condition: that the accompanying picture must include the entire breast center team.

“These ladies work so hard every day to help our patients, and I would love for them to be acknowledged. Without them, we simply cannot give the patients the care they deserve.”

Seriously, what a teammate! Lori checked off all seven of the Hendricks values in just two sentences! And there’s a reason she was described as “a breath of fresh air.” When Lori is not at work, she most enjoys walking her dog – a 3-year-old boxer and pit bull mix that resembles Scooby Doo – and gardening.

Lori also enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She’s a “people person,” which is what guided her to healthcare in the first place and led her to offer the following health tips for our women readers during this National Breast Cancer Awareness Month:

  1. Get your mammogram as indicated
    by your provider.
  2. Make yourself and your health a priority.
  3. Stay active.
  4. Know your family history and
    genetic risks.
  5. Wear sunscreen every day.

Other than getting her start in life here, Lori says there are many things she likes about Hendricks: “First, everyone is so friendly and supportive. Also, I like that Hendricks is involved in making the community a great place to work and live. Last, decisions are made here, and the leadership that guides those decisions is visible – not in another state.”
